Texas Advocates Project on Violence

In its third year, Texas Advocacy Project continues to strive to advocate for victims of crimes, immigrants, children, families, children, vulnerable adults, and other vulnerable communities in Texas. Today in its third year, the Project continues to provide direct counsel and representation to many low-income individuals and their children throughout the state of Texas. The Project provides direct legal representation to low-income clients with no insurance, no medical bills, and no job or medical benefits. At this time, the Project serves individuals and families in Texas who are experiencing some or all of the following: eviction; wage garnishment; foreclosure; child abuse; sexual assault; domestic violence; or life threatening emergencies. Through its committed staff and volunteers, the Project ensures that each individual case is handled in an compassionate and professional manner.

Texas Advocates strives to empower victims of violence and abuse through comprehensive legal representation and education. Currently in its third year, the Texas Advocacy Project continues to educate and train law officials, judges, lawyers, police officers, counselors, family support specialists, social workers, and children’s aid professionals with information on effective legal solutions to crimes and trauma. The Project also provides direct counsel and representation to many low-income individuals and their families throughout the state of Texas who are experiencing any or all of the above described traumas. Texas Advocates strives to be a catalyst for change and hope for change. The ultimate goal is to empower survivors of violence and abuse with the resources they need to survive and thrive.

Among the many services it provides to low-income families and individuals include free legal help for those in need, including legal advice on domestic violence, child welfare, juvenile delinquency, and immigration issues.
