Shopping draws visitors to historic Newberry, South Carolina

A mix of antique shops and specialty stores draw visitors to Newberry, South Carolina. Renovated buildings in the historic downtown district house a variety of interesting shops to explore. Downtown’s Memorial Park is a great place to take a break from shopping, and there are plenty of nearby restaurants when shoppers are ready for lunch or dinner. Here are some of Newberry’s most popular shopping destinations.

Newberry has long been a mecca for antique lovers. Several shops and antique malls are located in the center of the city. Eurolux Antiques, at 1409 Main Street, offers beautiful, high-quality antique furniture, vintage collectibles, and home décor accessories. The shop specializes in French and Chinese furniture, clocks, vintage lighting, and hand-painted majolica. They also carry King Henry Antique Reproductions furniture. The owners became interested in fine European antiques while living abroad in Germany. Eurolux offers free shipping anywhere in the continental US. Great attention to packaging and handling ensures that the piece arrives safely.

Other antique shops in Newberry include Antiques on Main, at 1213 Main Street, and As Time Goes By, located at 1304 Main Street. Prissy’s Newberry Antique Mall, at 1014 Main Street, offers antique furniture, china and lighting.

Carolina Gifts & Collectibles is located at 1110 Main Street. Shoppers will find a selection of jewelry including Troll Beads, Chamilia and Da Vinci items. The shop sells Lug bags and travel accessories, novelty T-shirts, cute flip-flops, Crocs, and sorority and college logo items. Another nearby gift shop, Out on a Whim, is located at 1118 Main Street. The store also offers candles, bath products, Brighton handbags and jewellery, home décor and garden accessories. One of Newberry’s newer stores is The Gallery, at 1104 Caldwell Street. Browse here for a delightful selection of fine art, home décor, and one-of-a-kind jewelry. The store is open from Wednesday to Saturday from 11 am to 6 pm.

The Art Gallery of local artist Nick Davenport is located at 1200 Main Street. The Newberry native paints the wildlife, landscapes and beach scenes of the Carolinas. Davenport has won several awards for his work. The gallery sells his originals and prints.

Owner Beth Hipp offers a stylish selection of women’s clothing, accessories and jewelry at her store, Elizabeth’s on Main, at 1216 Main Street. Store hours are Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday until 3 p.m. Denim Express, at 1308 Main Street, sells men’s, women’s, youth and children’s jeans. Shoppers will find other familiar apparel including men’s golf shirts and women’s clothing and fashion jewelry. Blackman’s Jewelry has been Newberry’s full service jewelry store for 20 years. They specialize in diamond and custom designed pieces, as well as in-house jewelry repair. Blackman’s is located at 1214 Main Street, and store hours are Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Planning Our Day is a unique studio that offers custom handcrafted invitations for weddings and other special events. Designer Michelle takes her clients through the design process to create unique invitations and stationery for her special day. She has created invitations for clients throughout the region.
