The new Jaguar V8

The front fascia has been highlighted with light-sensitive bi-xenon headlamps with washers, chrome fog lamp bezels and rain-sensing wipers. Further back is a new spoiler to convey a performance-oriented look.

At the heart of every V8 is a supercharged and intercooled 4196cc V90 eight-cylinder petrol engine mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox. Power goes to the car’s 20-inch alloy wheels, which are shod in 255/35 R20 performance rubber. What’s unique about the V8’s power plant is the fact that the British luxury carmaker made sure it was a “green” car with relatively low CO2 emissions. In addition to being eco-friendly, the new V8 is also highly fuel efficient, with rates set at 18.6/100 km in the city and 9/100 km on the highway.

As with other Jaguar cars, the interior redefines luxury. The new V8 has a multitude of soft, breathable leather for the seats, gear stick and multifunctional steering wheel. Electric and heated seats have been installed for all occupants, but the driver’s seat has a memory function. The entertainment and navigation systems have been upgraded and now feature digital sound processing along with satellite navigation, a DVD audio-video system, Bluetooth connectivity and a car phone. A 12-speaker stereo equipped with an in-dash 6-disc CD stacker completes the premium audio package.

The dashboard and instrument panels have been ergonomically designed and are sure to delight even the most discerning driver. There is a multifunction control screen, a trip computer, tire pressure monitoring with an integrated display and state-of-the-art voice recognition.

The new V8 wouldn’t be a Jaguar without other standard perks and amenities, would it? So if you’re interested in buying one, expect to get remote keyless entry, park distance control (front and rear), cruise control, 4-zone climate control air conditioning unit, heated front windshield, electric pedals adjustable, illuminated power outside mirrors, speed-sensitive power steering, front and rear power windows, power anti-glare rearview mirror, illuminated sun visor mirrors, and power moonroof.

When it comes to safety, the new V8 is on par with other luxury vehicles on the market. Standard across the range are anti-lock brakes, brake assist, driver and passenger dual airbags, front-row occupant side airbags, electronic stability control, dynamic stability, traction control and seat belt pretensioners. Also included are an integrated security system and alarms with motion sensor and tow protection. Lastly, for optimal handling and driving performance, Jaguar engineers fitted electronic air suspension along with active suspension and auto leveling components. The latter allows the new V8 to corner easily and minimizes body roll. All told, the new Jaguar V8 is in a league of its own in terms of elegance, style, handling and overall performance.
