A Color Description of Swarovski Crystal Heliotrope

What is Swarovski Heliotrope crystal?

A detailed description of Swarovski crystal heliotrope color.

Deep and brilliant purple glow.

As its floral namesake would imply, the color of the ‘Heliotrope’ Swarovski crystal is based on a luxurious mix of purple tones, bathed in and enhanced in a reflective sheen provided by a heavy metallic back layer.

The ‘Heliotrope’ back coating is heavier and therefore provides a more vivid effect than is seen with the ‘aurora borealis’ finish. As with Bermuda Blue, the Heliotrope cladding features a colored mirror finish, which ‘returns’ light within the particular shades of the glass, serving to further emphasize the range of colors presented.

As with several special Swarovski finishes, Heliotrope provides a pleasing transient range, in reaction to the angle at which both ambient and directed light are received. In sidelight conditions, the darkest purple, almost black, surrounds the edges of the glass. Grays and sheer crystal provide highlights as a smooth transition progresses into imperial purples and velvety midnight. As the range passes through lighter purples and lilacs, strong incidental modulations to fuchsia, violet and cobalt appear in the facet planes.

Moving into the crystal interior, deep ocean blue and green, turquoise and aqua meld to culminate in a striking center point of sapphire, bathed in an ethereal, almost 3D/holographic glow courtesy of the metallic back coating. But even here, in the crystal heart, momentary flashes of pure deep purple reassert a core in the heliotrope palette.

In head-on light, a light lilac ‘starburst’ is found, still retaining the remarkable light-filled central sapphire core, shimmering in the deep edges of Tyre.

Available in the smaller Swarovski Crystal Hearts and other smaller designs, Heliotrope is best displayed when its full range is allowed to reign supreme in multiple facets, making it particularly suitable for dangling designs on necklaces and earrings.
