How to Host a Backyard Fairy Princess Party for Girls

It’s hard to incorporate a fun party for girls and for adults. Many families have young children who want to have a princess party, but parents want to invite neighbors and older children who may have outgrown the princess phenomenon and want to do more adult activities. How do you make it easy for you, but fun for all your guests, young and old alike?

A backyard fairy princess gathering would be perfect. You can invite the adults to wear fairy wings at the party and hold a contest to see who has the prettiest, unique, small, big, funniest wings, etc. Adults love a challenge, so this would be a great way to kick off the competition while also making it fun for the younger guests.

Children would be invited to wear costumes of fairy princesses or Disney princesses (or pirates and princes for children). There could also be a children’s costume contest. You might be surprised at how fancy parents will get when they find out it’s a competition.

Decorate your garden with everything from fairies. Of course, balloons and streamers in your girl’s favorite color of pink and white are essential. You could have fairy costumes hanging from the tree branches in your garden that the children attending the party can “win” by playing and participating in princess activities.

The mother may want to dress up as a beautiful fairy and be in charge of organizing the games and activities. This would make the day very special and involve the adults. Each adult can be asked to bring a set of fairy princesses for the children to play and that would make it very easy for the parents.

Serve grilled food like hot dogs, hamburgers with fries, and lemonade. Or have a real fairy princess tea party and serve snacks. You could even rent a popcorn or cotton candy machine to make something interesting and unique.

To end the party, you would serve cake and ice cream. You could make or buy a special fairy princess cake, like Tinkerbell. Or you can make cupcakes with fairy barrettes in the middle for the girls to take home.

Be sure to send the adults and children home with something special as a favor. Some ideas for favors might include: fairy wings, fairy tutu, ribbon bows, fairy hair clips, a hand mirror (since fairies are so beautiful and like to admire themselves), snacks that fairies would like to eat, a fairy princess costume, or anything else you can think of that has to do with Tinkerbell or other fairies.

A great gift to give your child at a party like this would be an awesome fairy princess costume or a Tinkerbell DVD so she can learn all about what fairies do before she comes to the party.
