Infertility is no longer definitive today: there is the IVF method

Once upon a time, infertile couples had only one option: adopt a baby. Today, thanks to modern science, they can still hope to have their natural, biological baby even if they seem to have trouble having a baby naturally. The staff at the IVF Ontario clinic is excellent in its ability to help couples have babies of their own. Ontario’s infertility clinics are among the best in the country.

What is IVF?

IVF or in vitro fertilization is one of the most advanced methods that help the human reproductive system. In this procedure, the woman’s eggs are collected and fertilized by putting them in direct contact with the sperm in a petri dish. In other words, IVF is the method of uniting the sperm with the egg outside the body in the laboratory. Once the egg develops into an embryo, it is transferred to the uterus where it proceeds to a normal full-term pregnancy.

The advantages of the IVF procedure

There are many advantages that come with this procedure:

1. No more infertile couples: In many societies, not having children is considered a stigma and, without real guilt, these couples live their lives with a guilt complex for something beyond them. With the IVF procedure, most couples can have their own biological babies and remove this stigma from their lives.

2. Planned Babies: Once upon a time, it was wonderful to wait for a pregnancy to happen. Today we would prefer to have it when it suits us. IVF allows you to plan for your babies as the pregnancy is handled according to its proper time outside of your body. This is an amazing tool for women who have built careers for themselves and find it very difficult to leave babies to chance.

3. Avoid genetic problems: If the woman or man in the couple has genetic problems and they prefer not to risk the same defect being passed on to their children, they could use IVF. In this case, the affected egg and sperm are removed and a donor’s sperm is used instead. In this way, the born baby would not be affected by the genetic defects of the parents.

4. New hope for couples who missed the boat: IVF also works great for couples who kept putting off “baby time” and one day woke up to find they had almost finished their reproductive cycle. For these people, time is of the essence as they cannot wait for nature to take its course. In such a case, IVF brings with it the hope of starting a family even in your late forties.

5. Pregnancy whenever you want: more and more people do it. They store their eggs and sperm before they hit their thirties, when both eggs and sperm are at their healthiest. When they are ready, later in life, they use their younger eggs and sperm to have a healthy baby.
