LGBT discrimination continues despite approval of same-sex marriage

It is part of human nature for people to judge others so easily, to speak their mind without consideration, even if it is offensive to others, and to humiliate other people in front of a crowd, whether intentionally or not. But that doesn’t mean that since it’s really innate for us to be like that, we should stick with it. We never know how this affects other people’s lives.

For years, women have been fighting for their right to have a right. Right to freedom, right to have their own ideas and decisions, right to express their own thoughts, right to vote and many more. Little by little, these ladies have been accumulating these rights and recognitions one by one.

As of today, the “she” population can rule the world. There are CEOs in companies who are women, artists, lawyers, doctors, and even the president of a country. To date, it seems that there is nothing a man can do that a woman cannot. In fact, some would like to agree that women have more excellent work and performance compared to men.

However, it should also be noted that despite this, there are still some who stubbornly discriminate against women because of their gender. There are still companies that would prefer to have men as workers, such as factory jobs, electrical jobs, auto repair, and the like. Fortunately, women can deal with this and can still get a job.

On the contrary, the cases of women seem to be called much luckier compared to what is called the gay community.

They are gays, lesbians, transsexuals, bisexuals and the like. They are still people, part of humanity, but they just have different preferences specifically when it comes to the people they will love and want to be with in their life.

Discrimination against this group is evident and observable. Most of the time they are bullied in schools, avoided by their co-workers, and even if they are already professionals and their preferences revealed, they became less respected.

Like the women above, they are also in the process of continually fighting for their right to equality. They wanted to be recognized and receive the rights enjoyed by other citizens in their respective countries. Their movement (which started in the mid-90s) took a big leap when same-sex marriage was approved in the early 2000s.

Apart from that, there are also other rights that are already appreciating BUT, it is not in all places. In fact, same-sex marriage is still not practiced all over the world. Gay couples still have a hard time getting marriage licenses and have to go to another state (in the US) that does.

Also, there are still many people who are part of the gay community who have a hard time getting a (very well paid) job due to gender discrimination. More are about to be fired if it is known that they are gay.

There are so many more discriminations that they are receiving despite the rights they are given, this includes:

Decline for house rentals

Treated as mentally ill

Target of hate crimes

Offenses against them having contained sentences

And so many more…
