moving? The era of mobile capsule companies has arrived

It’s time to move. You’re a family of four moving into a new home, or maybe a single mom moving down the street. Maybe you are moving for work. Maybe you’re a college student transferring to a new university but can’t fit everything in that Honda Civic of yours. Whatever the reason, whatever the cause, the prospect of moving will never conjure up thoughts of a day at the beach.

Believe it or not, the moving industry has come a long way since our parents had to move. No longer are we stuck with just a couple of moving options: renting a moving truck, hiring a moving company, or trying to do it all yourself. Sure, all of these are still very viable, but in the last 10 years some moving companies have changed the rules… forever. Capsule movers offer the convenience of easily loading (and unloading) at your own pace. Most of these mobile pods (depending on the sizes available) can be placed on your driveway or even on a sidewalk (check your city regulations first!), making them great options if you live in the city. . Best of all, they can be much cheaper. (Not always, so be sure to get quotes.)

However, not all mobile pods are created equal, so it’s important to research your options and see how these pods stack up before reserving one. Keep in mind that these will be left at your location, so unless you have a huge yard or very long driveway, consider some of the smaller size pods.

In an effort to help make this decision easier, below is a list of moving companies that serve most, if not all, parts of the country. We’ve also included the sizes of their respective portable storage bins and what they’re made of.

There are many reasons why moving pods should be considered for your next move. Many of these container movers will allow you to reserve multiple containers, but will only charge you for what you use. Also, sometimes you can have up to a month to pack your capsule, so don’t be in a rush. Last but not least, pods aren’t just for moving around. Companies like Door To Door, Upack, and Pods can store your pod in a secure storage facility.
