Personal or team responsibility in network marketing: which is more important?

Personal and team responsibility are both keys to MLM success

You have started your own network marketing business. You’ve partnered with a great company that has products you believe in, you’ve made your time commitment, and you’re starting to generate interest in your business. You’re enthusiastic, you sell some product, maybe even add a few people to your downline. It sounds like you’re putting a lot of effort into your new business. But after a couple of months, you think “why am I not getting anywhere so fast?”

The vast majority of those who start an MLM business fail, historically up to 95%. Some lose their investment entirely, some break even, some even make a little money.

There are a number of reasons why.

Many MLM’ers may not be successful because they don’t pay attention to a key component of their business. Responsibility.

Webster defines “accountability” as “an obligation or willingness to accept responsibility or account for one’s actions”, “to be responsible”.

You may think, “This is my own business, I’m independent, who am I accountable to?” The answer is your.

The importance of personal responsibility

Many of us have used calendars, call logs, activity reports and all sorts of reports to track and manage our day, and let our bosses know who we’ve seen, what we’ve sold and what we’ve accomplished each day or week. Wouldn’t that be a good idea for you and your business?

Daily goals and visualization go a long way in creating a driving business. What is really needed is a format to track this information. Some of you may have trackers for your business. Do they incorporate your objectives? Do they help you to have a clear image of your business? Are they simple and easy to use? If not, find one that suits your needs and use it religiously.

Team responsibility is just as important

Multi-level marketing, along with just about any other business, works best if leads and followers know where the team is headed. Communication between team members is crucial. Communicating with your downline is just as important – just letting them know you’re there to help them in any way you can can be motivating. Remember, if your downline is successful, you will be successful.

Personal and team responsibility – can they work for you? Absolutely. Be dedicated, work hard and be responsible. Do it and be surprised with the results!
