Weight loss tools: the reticular activation system and its new vision

You don’t need to endure pain and suffering when losing weight. I feel like I should repeat that statement just to help settle it a bit. YOU really don’t need to endure pain or suffering to lose weight. The reality is that IF you would just make a small adjustment in your mental thinking, you could lose weight and improve your quality of life, with relative ease.

It’s all you need to do is realize the power of the Reticular Activator – something we all have in our brain; and I’ll share some suggestions for changing your mental approach to weight loss.

The Reticular Activation System (RAS) is like a traffic cop in your head. Your mind (with the help of all your senses) has the capacity to process millions of thousands of bits of information per second: it is the best computer ever designed. And the RAS is the traffic police.

For example, let’s say you’re at a loud party, there are dozens of conversations going on, and you can barely hear the people next to you because of all the clamor. But then out of nowhere, boom, you hear your own name being called and immediately tune in to that specific conversation across the room. They used to call this the ‘Cocktail Syndrome’. it’s because you aware The mind has told your unconscious mind that YOU are important to you, so your RAS is always on high alert for YOU, things like your name.

Here’s another example: You buy a new car. Now you start to see that same model on every street corner, but you have never noticed so many before. Because now that you have that specific car, your conscious mind has told your unconscious mind that YOUR new car is important to you. Are you realizing how this works?

You see, whatever reality you decide consciously to embrace, your subconscious mind becomes your servant. THE SAME IS TRUE WITH WEIGHT LOSS.

If you have taken a strong view of yourself as lean and healthy, the RAS will allow the world to open up to you in that way. It really will. Perhaps it will open up to you in ways like the ones you will now begin to notice:

  • Healthier options for eating out
  • that fruits and vegetables in the supermarket are more attractive
  • more activity options, like a walking trail or a gym you never knew was there
  • new friends who are active and less obese or more aware of how they take care of themselves

Or maybe you’ll start to realize that your current habits or friends are actually very poor choices for fitting in with YOUR new image: your new chosen lifestyle, health and wellness.

You are beautiful as you are. You are a son of the king and you are destined for greatness. But he also recognizes that NOW is the time to start making changes. Why else would you have stumbled across this article? You see, because you’re ready for the change, your RAS opened it to view this article; otherwise, he would have remained buried in plain sight never to be discovered.

Do you want to know something else? Do you know that you are capable of embracing hunger? Another little mental adjustment that will empower you to lose weight. Hunger sucks? Maybe, maybe not. It depends on how you think about it. If you were to mentally recognize hunger pangs as pounds literally falling off your body, do you know that you would expect to feel hungry because you would recognize that it is a good thing?
