What to take when traveling with your children

He’s finally leaving for the big family trip he’s been planning for months, and even though he knows he’s ready, what about his kids? It’s easier to pack and prepare for you and your spouse, but it can be a bit difficult when kids are involved, here’s just a quick and helpful checklist to get you started:

1- Make sure you know your flight time!- Know what time you need to check in and most importantly your flight time, also know which airline you will be taking! You’d be surprised how many times we can forget this step!

2-Pack Smart: Always pack your necessities ahead of time and keep in mind what to pack for your kids, don’t bring anything you can’t carry or that will distract you from taking care of your little ones!

3-Print your boarding passes at home- Total time saving! If you can’t print them, try registering online if possible.

4-Educate your kids about security checks: Help your child understand airport security and teach them what they can bring and what is not allowed, that way you can avoid freaking out when an agent wants to wave a metal detector in his son.

5-Rent a car with a car seat: If you are going to drive, it is very important to have a car seat so that you and your little one can be safe and comfortable, you can also save money if you have a good credit card and corporate or online discounts (Deals are everywhere!)

6-Avoid packing heavy and excessive things. I know, I know, it’s very hard NOT to overpack with kids in tow, but no one wants to pay extra for heavy bags! Visit the airlines website to check baggage restrictions and save yourself a headache

7-Avoid bringing wrapped gifts- Security will bother you if they find wrapped gifts! if you have food or gifts for relatives abroad, make sure you follow the security guidelines and they won’t have to confiscate them (losing a bottle of wine is not good)

8-Preparation for infants/children: if you are traveling with a baby, make sure you have enough formula and breast milk for the entire flight. You should also make sure that children have enough snacks and entertainment for the entire flight.

In conclusion, traveling can be crazy, but with the right preparation and a positive attitude, it can be exciting and fun for the whole family, just be patient and loving with your kids, you can thank me later!
