Diwali Greetings And Sweets – The Perfect Match

Heartfelt Diwali greetings accompanied by a box of delicious sweets can make the Diwali festival almost perfect for anyone. Diwali’s importance in Hindu mythology dates back thousands of years.

Diwali is one of the most effervescent festivals celebrated in India. It is essentially the festival of light and decoration such as Diwali lanterns, diyas and candles. Lamps are placed in and around homes, offices, and shops to attract wealth and prosperity. Firecrackers, sweets, new clothes, jewelry and utensils are also a part of Diwali celebrations.

There are so many varieties of sweet and savory snacks that can be prepared at home and served to guests who come to visit during Diwali. Here are two very popular simple sweet recipes that you can make yourself this Diwali.

1. Scratch

Also known as Rasogullas, this popular Bengali sweet is packed with sugary syrup and melts in your mouth.

Ingredients:

Cow’s milk – 1 liter

Vinegar – 1 tablespoon

Sugar -300 grams

Water – 1 liter

baking powder – 1 pinch

Arrowroot powder – 1 tablespoon

Essence of roses – 4 drops

Set up:

Boil the milk in a saucepan and add the vinegar to the boiling milk.

Let it cook over low heat until the milk curdles.

Strain through a muslin cloth and wash the residue (known as chenna) with cold water to remove the vinegary taste.

Take the chenna and add baking powder and arrowroot powder to it. Mix well to form a smooth and shiny dough.

Make small balls and reserve.

Bring the sugar and water to a boil and add the balls to the boiling syrup.

Let simmer for 10-12 minutes and add the essence of roses.

Remove from heat and chill in the fridge.

Serve cold

2. Rushed Tasty

This dish requires no cooking and is very popular with children. What you need to prepare the dish is;

Roasted split gram – 200 grams

Powdered sugar – 300 grams

Powdered milk – 1 cup

Pure butter – 1/2 cup

Milk cream 1/2 cup

Almonds – 50 grams

Cardamom powder – 1 teaspoon

Edible silver foil for decoration.

Set up:

Finely ground roasted split gram.

Grind the almonds coarsely and mix them with roasted chickpea powder.

Add the rest of the ingredients except the foil and mix well with your hands or spatula.

Grease a flat mold and spread the mixture in the mold evenly.

Let it cool in the fridge for an hour.

Garnish with foil and cut into desired shapes to serve.
