Effective Women’s Self-Advocacy: Developing the Survivor Mindset

And, the kind of mindset I’m focusing on in this article involves knowing that there are real threats, knowing what they are and the fact that you’re at risk, and believing in yourself and your ability to be a survivor in the event that the worst happens. happened to you! When it comes to the subject of women’s self-defense, of knowing how to protect themselves against brutal attackers in the real world, this mindset of belief and knowledge is the first set of building blocks, along with the survivor attitude that I talked about elsewhere. article, which forms the basis of effective self-defense of women!

First of all, you need to know and understand that there are real threats to you as a woman that men in general don’t have to deal with. You should know this because it is absolutely true.

That’s not to say these things can’t threaten men, but women are generally more susceptible to them.

Also, that doesn’t mean you should go through life looking over your shoulder in constant fear. In fact, the exact opposite is true. After all…

How could you live a good, stress-free and happy life if you always live in fear?

No. My point is that there are dangers that women should be aware of, because they are part of your world and therefore part of the essence of women’s self-defense. This is what I mean when I teach about the “mindset of consciousness.”

Well, now you know that you must be aware of all the things that you have come to believe in your life that are dangerous.

It seems obvious, right?

The question is, though, are these the right things you “should” be aware of?

don’t be. In fact, this is what I mean.

From the perspective of real and authentic self-defense for women, you might think that the most dangerous person or things to watch out for are strangers hiding in the bushes. And, if you had this belief, then you could be dead wrong (pun intended).

The truth is, the biggest concerns that you, as a woman, have to be prepared for are…

…attacks from people close to you!

From a police officer’s perspective, I would have to say that 99% of the calls I have responded to where women were in physical danger or had been in a sexual assault situation…

…were the result of the actions of someone close to them. 99 percent!

Again, this does not mean that you should be afraid of everyone close to you. The point of view of women’s self-defense is simply that you need to know who or what you think the danger is…

…really “is” the danger.

Once you have developed the proper beliefs, you must believe in your heart, mind, body and soul that you can overcome any situation no matter where you are or what the circumstances are. To have this kind of self-confidence, you have to constantly train a little bit.

That doesn’t just mean physical training. Because, when I say you should train a “little” – that means the physical part – the real, hands-on, self-defense training that will give you the weapons, lessons, techniques, and skills to defend yourself against a bigger, stronger assailant. and decided…
