Ethics of God’s work

GOD’S WORK ETHICS (Genesis 1 and 2)

God has a work ethic that, when followed, will definitely lead to a successful career. These work ethic are embedded in the creation system.

One of life’s greatest secrets is seen at work. How you work, when you work, and your general attitude toward your work will determine how quickly you grow at it and how far you can ultimately go.

You can see the ethics of God’s work described in Genesis, verses one and two.

They are basically:

1) God never stopped working until he completed the basic creations. He continued to do the work of creation until he was satisfied with each one of them (HE saw that he was good). He never stopped along the way, he completed each phase of creation and finally satisfied the creation demands of him.

2) You rested less than you worked. At the ratio of 6:1, God worked six days and stayed only one day. This shows how important He took his works. He never did the works randomly because he wanted to rest, rather he put in more effort over a longer period of time than he put in rest. At work, he rests less than he works and see how much he will grow in his chosen career.

3) God treasured His work and rest. He took his work of creation so seriously that he was particular and precise in creating each thing. He treasured his rest to the point of sanctifying it as a special day. He never took any part lightly, both work and rest were deeply appreciated and he thoroughly maximized them. For a balanced life, treasure your work and your rest, give each time its true place.

4) He was systematic in his work (each step gives birth to another). God is ordered. He is systematic in his approach to his work, he took each creative process one at a time. Before the plants came, the land was in its place, before the fish, the seas were there, so he created each thing with the other thing in mind. It is also important that each person be highly articulate in business, career, education, or ministry. This will save you from confusion.

5) HE ensured sustainability by appointing someone who is like Him (male). This is very important because no one can understand the magnitude and importance of what has been created other than in its own image and likeness. So, by creation, man has God’s abilities in place of him, that gave man the idea of how to call each animal after him. At work, he recruits like-minded people, partner with like-minded people. Partner with those whose values resonate with yours. The easiest way to crash on anything is to have a values clash. Therefore, avoid them and work with like-minded people.

Finally, work is the only provision for distinction. The job puts you on a platform of continuous growth. However, your attitude towards work determines the level you will reach. If you noticed how God worked, you will recognize that he worked smart and hard. So in his image and likeness let’s adopt his work ethic

Shalom.
