A path/file access error may appear during the installation of computer software. When the setup program tries to create your disk image during the custom installation, this error can occur.
Reasons behind this error:

You do not have sufficient administrative permissions to access the folder/file
A path/file access error can occur when you do not have sufficient security permissions. To complete the installation successfully, several permissions are required.
1. Right click on the folder or file that does not have sufficient security permissions.
2. Select Properties.
3. Click the Security tab.
4. Click the Edit button.
5. In the Allow column, check the following check boxes as enabled:
has. Modify
b. read and execute
against Read
d. Write
6. Click OK | IT’S OKAY.
Configuration registry entries are corrupted
A path/file access error can occur if the installation program’s registry entries are corrupted. Outdated, out-of-date, or incorrect information in your setup program’s registry key can cause this error.
You must use a Registry Cleaner software to resolve this error. From the installed Registry Cleaner software, click Registry Cleaner | Start scan | Fix it now.
The selected drive does not have enough disk space
The drive you selected to install a program may not have required free disk space. The installation attempts to create your disk image which requires a certain amount of free disk space. You need to clean up the unnecessary files on that drive to fix the path/file access error.
1.Click Start | All programs | Accessories | System Tools | Disk cleanup.
2. Select the installation drive. For example, drive C.
3. Click the OK button.
4. Follow the instructions on the screen.
Memory problems
The problem with random access memory can lead to a path/file access error. You will need to run the memory diagnostic test to resolve the issue, if any.
1. Click the Start button on the taskbar.
2.Type Windows Memory Diagnostics.
3. Press ENTER.
4. Select the Restart now option and check for problems.
The compressed files are damaged
The folder you have selected to install a program may contain some damaged files. You need to remove the corrupted files from that folder to fix the path/file access error.
Bad sectors on your hard drive
A hard drive with bad sectors can cause a path/file access error. Using the Check Disk utility, analyze the status of your hard drive and repair it if it is damaged.
1. Open My Computer.
2. Right click on the drive you have chosen to install the software. For example, drive C.
3. Select Properties.
4.Click on Tools | Check it now.
5. Click the Start button to continue.
