How to lose 10 pounds in a week starting at the top!

When I said start at the top for weight loss, I literally meant your head. That’s as high as you can get to the top. Our minds are very powerful when it comes to changing our clothes. I recently did a seven day detox and the first two days you have to fast. I was absolutely amazed at the battle going on inside my head! Even though I didn’t feel physically hungry, my brain kept saying, don’t you want a cookie or an apple or something?

No one ever told me that I would have this battle inside my head. And it was pretty hard to ignore. So the first step to losing 10 pounds in a week is learning to fight or ignore the little voice in your head. Try going for a short walk or meditating. Play with your pets or read a book. Do something to distract yourself or occupy your time. If you can conquer this one, the rest will be much easier.

The next important thing to remember when you sit down to dinner is to make a fist. Always keep in mind that our stomachs are the size of our fist, so do you really need a 24oz Porterhouse steak, plus a baked potato, plus veggies, oh, and let’s not forget the bread! Do you see what I’m saying? As kids, most of us Baby Boomers were taught to eat all the food on our plates, right? So every time you eat, make a fist and remember that this is all that fits in your stomach. That’s why they say it’s best to eat five small meals a day.

Exercise, how many of you hate that idea? This is how I handle it, I pull both legs to my chest upon waking before I even get out of bed. Then I extend my legs in the air and try to touch my toes about 40 times (this helps your abs), then I get out of bed and bend over and touch my toes to stretch my back. This little thing will help your abdomen. Trust me, my doctor of thirteen years commented on my abs. Other than that, the best exercise is walking and as we started by saying, it’s a great stress reliever and a good way to clear your head.

Just remember before you eat to ask yourself “am I really hungry?” Drink a glass of water before eating, this will help you feel full and try to drink water at room temperature. Drinking cold water has an effect on the blood vessels in the intestines and slows down the digestive process.

All of these little tricks can really make a big difference for just about anyone. Here are some more:

1 – Reduce and try to eliminate white sugar

2 – Eliminate white flour

3 – Do not drink soft drinks, especially diet ones, they are loaded with toxins.

4 – Reduce the consumption of dairy products, only use organic products

5 – Eat breakfast

6 – Eat more fruits and vegetables, they fill you up and help your digestive system keep working.

7 – Drink only filtered, purified or distilled water and lots of it!
