Life story of actor Nagesh

Actor Nagesh’s contribution to Tamil cinema is immeasurable. He was born on September 27, 1933 to Krishna Rao and Rukmaniamma in a Kannada family. He was educated and raised in Madras. From 1958-2008 he has acted in more than 1000 Indian films. He worked as a clerk at Indian Railways prior to the start of his acting career. When he worked, he also acted in the dramas of veteran director K. Balachander.

He became popular as a comedian during the 1960s. He was spoken for his delivery of dialogue and body language. Nagesh played the lead role in a movie called “ServerSundaram” which was released in 1964. The story clearly portrays the real life of the great comedian. One can know the struggle that this genius comedian faced by watching this movie.

Nagesh was also known as a character artist. His performance in Poova Thalaya, Bhama Vijayam, Ethir Neechal, Neer Kumizhi is unforgettable. His original name was Gundu Rao. He was born in Dharapuram and belongs to the Madhwa Brahmin community.

The combination of Nagesh and Manorama was considered the best combination in those days. They have done many movies together. There was a time when four or five movies with a combination of the two were released each year, and they all turned out to be big box office hits.

In the later stage of his career, he played a character role in many films. Nagesh will be in almost every Kamal Haasan movie. His last film was Dasavatharam in which Kamal Haasan played ten roles.

He passed away on January 31, 2009. The Tamil film industry and Nagesh fans were mourning his loss. Although he has left us, his works are eternal.
